Best for

Students who will keep building on evenings and weekends because they enjoy it. Portfolio matters more here than in almost any other path.

Maybe not for you if

Anyone optimising for the easiest or highest-paid first job. Entry compensation in Indian game studios is commonly lower than mainstream software, and openings are fewer.

The 4 phases

What each phase gets you to. The steps, resources and checkpoint inside each one open with a free account.

  1. Phase 1 - Programming and game maths

    4-6 weeks

Goal: Write C# a studio would accept, and reason about vectors, interpolation and frame timing well enough to debug movement yourself.

4 steps · ends in a scored checkpoint (60% to clear) · assumes basic programming

  2. Phase 2 - One engine, properly

    5-7 weeks

Goal: Learn Unity deeply enough to finish a small game with a full loop: start, play, lose, restart.

4 steps · ends in a scored checkpoint (60% to clear)

  3. Phase 3 - Depth and polish

    5-7 weeks

Goal: Ship a second, better game and be able to explain its performance in milliseconds.

4 steps · ends in a build deliverable

  4. Phase 4 - Clear the process

    4-6 weeks

Goal: Pass technical screens that still look a lot like standard software rounds, and get your work in front of studios.

4 steps · ends in a scored checkpoint (60% to clear)

What hiring actually looks like here

For entry-level game roles the portfolio is typically decisive: a shipped game, however small, usually carries more weight with studio hiring teams than certificates. Unity with C# is commonly reported as the dominant stack in India's mobile-gaming industry, while Unreal Engine with C++ turns up mainly in AAA and outsourcing studios, so match your engine to the studios you actually apply to.

We claim no placement outcome, salary or success rate. This describes what is commonly reported about the role, nothing more. Linked resources are credited to their authors.
